Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny -Edited-
A special recap, that analyzes the events of the series following operation “Break the World” and military strengths of ZAFT, Orb & the Atlantic Federation. This episode does not appear on the DVD release.
Yeah, I’m back, but only for one last go. This is a project I’ve long wanted to tackle and have been working on for several months and given that today is the 20th anniversary of the original broadcast, it felt like the right time to finally release it.
This is a 1080p AI upscale of the “Edited” recap special using SD masters of Gundam SEED Destiny as the main source, using the same base process the [EG] Gundam SEED upscale used. More details on that upscaling process can be found here. I have recomposited some of the unique overlays and animations from the special, with some of the maps being upscaled. This did unfortunately mean that a small bit of background animation on the map screens was made static, but it had to be done. Text in the special is mostly “English localized” because re-creating the Japanese text was problematic due to the low-res source, so it has English credits and text on overlays. Translation uses the Bandai and Nozomi subs, with the narration taken from the original SEED-Fansubs release, all styled to match the Nozomi HD Remaster BDs (OP/ED subs are color matched to the SD-BD though).
A 16×9 version made with the HD Remastered footage may come later once I can determine if I can find clean shots for all the cuts I need (or recomp some of them as I did here), but I wouldn’t count on it.
